Khan Academy
This video covers briefly all of the areas related to photosynthesis, which is the next major unit for my 12th grade Biology class. The Khan academy videos are excellent as a tutorial and they provide a great mix of audio discussion and visual text without overloading the brain with additional imagery.
Crash Course
Crash course is a comical and quick paced tutorial on everything photosynthesis. My students always find the videos interesting and informative.
Neo K-12
This video sheds light on one specific aspect of photosynthesis, which is light reactions. The animation is easy to understand, and the explanation is clear and concise.
Ed.Ted
This animated Ted video is a great background for photosynthesis. It seems simplistic but is actually a great tutorial. It makes links to previous chapters on carbs, lipids, proteins, cells, and biochem.
Bozeman Science
Bozeman science is a great website. This particular video is a great review of all concepts related to photosynthesis as well as the processes that take place during photosynthesis.
Teacher Tube
This video is actually a song about photosynthesis. I find that many of my students respond strongly to music, and they often get more out of a short song that covers the overall themes of a topic. This video has great images and it addresses many of the major aspects of photosynthesis that the students need to understand.
Watch Know Learn
This video is meant to appeal to my student athletes as it relates the concepts of photosynthesis to a play in football.
Virtual Cell
Light reactions are one of the most difficult aspects to understand in photosynthesis so this is another cartoon like animation of that specific aspect of photosynthesis. The video really breaks down the steps and helps provide a clear visual.
Live Science
This video is about a more current event connection to photosynthesis and it requires students to consider alternatives to the traditional method of glucose and oxygen production.
Bill Nye
Bill Nye is a classic and my students really love his videos. He makes even difficult concepts easier to understand. This video provides visual imagery to help students understand more abstract concepts.
